Our programs focuses primarily on, but is not limited to treating issues of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. This includes behavior modification, developing family living skills, and social and educational development. In addition, to conflict resolution, anger management, communication, and problem-solving. We have a team of Licensed professionals available to address each area of concern.
|
We do not operate a "One Size Fits All" program. Each child has an individualized treatment plan that will address their particular needs and strategies specifying how their psychological, educational, social, medical, and recreational goals will be met. As their needs change, the treatment team will re-evaluate needed changes in goals and strategies.

Our Motivation!!
The inspiration and motivation behind Kirby’s Place lays with a remarkable woman; Beatrice Kirby… As a child growing up in the streets of Houston, TX, I can’t imagine having to do so alone; lucky for me, I didn’t have to. See, I was one of the privileged ones after all; I had the honor of meeting Mrs. Kirby at the most vulnerable state of my life, as a child. Throughout my childhood, Mrs. Kirby walked with me every step of the way; good times, bad times and all the times in between. For that honor and privilege alone, I am forever grateful.
No matter how difficult and challenging life became, the youth of our community (me in particular) always knew we had a safe place in the home of Mrs. Kirby. Even when I reached those difficult teenage years, (you know; the ones when I thought I knew everything), Mrs. Kirby managed to show me unconditional love; while remaining consistent, firm and fair. She gave me unwavering support, yet held me accountable for my actions. She instilled in me the fear of GOD, yet the courage to face my fears. Her strong faith in God showed me the power of prayer, taught me the meaning of forgiveness and gave me the strength to pick myself up after life knocked me down; simply put, she turned hurt into hope.
Throughout it all, she’s taught me no matter how challenging a child may be, or how difficult their situation may seem; “Don’t Give Up”! She showed me that even the most difficult ones need someone in their corner; every child is worth saving. She has touched the lives of so many simply because she believes every child deserves someone to believe in their possibilities, encourage their dreams, and aid in their vision for their lives. She embodies the saying, “It takes a village!”
So; it is my honor and my privilege to dedicate and model this program after and continue the life teachings of a great woman, my grandmother; Mrs. Beatrice Kirby.
